![]() The program was opened with a welcome and prayer by Danny Murray, Professor of Music at Lee University. |
![]() Melvin Klaudt, Vice President of the Klaudt Indian Memorial Foundation, then gave an opening statement of the purpose of the foundation and challenging the audience for the need of a greater respect of student life and the need of Christ centered education. He reiterated the dream of his brother Raymond Klaudt who now lives in California and flew in for this occasion. Raymond a retired educator, has a burden for Native Americans, the honoring of father and mother and scholarships for needy students in the area of music and ministry. |
![]() Melvin then introduced the President of the Foundation, Dr. James Goff, Jr. Professor of History at Appalachian State University, Boone, NC, who emceed the night's festivities. Dr. Goff, with his vast knowledge of Southern Gospel Music, always adds to the enjoyment of the evening. |
![]() The Perry's were in rare form, thrilling the audience with some of the old time favorites of Southern Gospel Singing. Libbi is always a crowd favorite and when you add low note Tracy, her husband, to the mix, along with Joseph, Loren and youthful pianist Matthew, you immediately know why this is the top rated mixed gospel group in the business. You have missed a rare treat if you have never heard the Perrys in person. |
![]() Stan Whitmire, as usual, performed the traditional "Red Book" hymns of the church in a style only he can render. Once this artist gets comfortable on the piano bench, you know you will be entertained. |
![]() Blue Ribbon quality is always an entitlement relegated to the best. This is what you receive when you have the opportunity of listening to Greater Vision. These three gentlemen of Southern Gospel fame, Gerald Wolfe, Rodney Griffin and Jason Waldroup not only have a unique interpretation of song, but they also have the rarity of singing the compositions of one of the greatest songwriters of this era in Mr. Griffin. |
![]() Vintage wine is a term used to describe a product aged to perfection. Jesus' first miracle was to create the greatest wine ever at the wedding feat and in Eva Mae LeFevre He undoubtedly created one of the greats of Southern Gospel Music. At vintage age 87, Eva Mae thrilled the audience with her vibrant words of encouragement and humor followed by several renditions of her favorite songs. This of course was her night and she took advantage of it. |
![]() Vernon Klaudt, the elder brother of the Klaudt Siblings, then presented the first scholarship, in the name of his mother Lillian Little Soldier Klaudt, to Candace Eve Fuller. This is the second year of this scholarship which will benefit a student at Lee through the year 2013. |
![]() Ms. Fuller, from Mentone, Alabama is studying for a Bachelor of Science Degree and is a member of the Voices of Lee. She has won many Female Vocalist awards including Country and Gospel Female Entertainer of the year, Gatlinburg, TN, Church of God Teen Talent Regional Winner, and many State of Alabama track and field and basketball honors. Ms. Fuller's Great Grandmother and Grandfather were full blood Cherokee Indians. Ms. Fuller then sang one of her favorite songs to the delight of the audience. |
![]() Vernon Klaudt then presented the scholarship in honor of Eva Mae LeFevre to Andrew Spikes, a very talented pianist from Richmond, Kentucky. This is the first year of the Eva Mae Scholarship that will benefit a student through the year of 2014. |
![]() Andrew is a senior in High School and will be attending Lee University in the Fall of 2005. He has won 1st place in the Kentucky State Piano Contest, is a member of the Marching Band, Kentucky Athletic/Academic All State, member of the Fellowship of Christian Activities and is a piano teacher. A standing ovation was the result of the piano artistry of Andrew Spikes. Look out gospel music world for the future of this young pianist. |
![]() The night was completed when Melvin Klaudt brought to the stage Meurice LeFevre, son of Eva Mae, for a family reunion. Meurice flew in from Meridian, Mississippi for this nostalgic reunion. It was a love fest of sorts as mother and son share thoughts of the past and then Meurice closed the evening in prayer. |
![]() This was a fitting close for such a momentous evening as son, Meurice LeFevre, brought honor to his mother, Eva Mae LeFevre. |
![]() The night was the result of years of service to the Lord by faithful servants of the LeFevre and Klaudt Families; an Institution Lee University, rich in Southern Gospel Music history; parents of Candace Fuller and Andrew Spikes who trained their children up in the fear and admonition of the Lord; two students who want to pursue a ministry in Gospel Music; and the generous gifts and supporters of the Klaudt Indian Memorial Foundation. |
Without the "tax deductible gifts" of so many, these two students would not be the beneficiaries of these scholarships, nor would a student attending Lee University benefit financially through the year 2014. The Board of Directors of The Klaudt Indian Memorial Foundation thanks you for your continued support. |
